Posted on June 2, 2015 at 1:14 p.m. by johnb johnb

The Brea Police Department recently promoted Corporal Greg Brintle and Detective John Hoetker to Police Sergeant. Sgt. Brintle is a 14 year veteran of the department, and has served in Patrol, Downtown Liaison Officer, K-9, Detectives, and as a Field Training Officer. He was named by his peers the 2014 Officer of the Year. Sgt. Hoetker has 26 years of law enforcement experience, the last 14 years at Brea PD. He has served the department in Patrol, Traffic, Field Training, SWAT, and Detectives. He is a past recipient of the department’s prestigious Medal of Honor, was a 2014 recipient of a Life Saving Medal, and has previously been named both Officer of the Year and Investigator of the Year.

2014 was the Year of the Volunteer in the City of Brea and both Sergeants represent that spirit well. Sgt. Brintle and his family have captained the department’s Relay for Life team for several years. Sgt. Hoetker has been a long-time volunteer baseball and softball coach across several levels.

Both were promoted after a lengthy testing process which included a comprehensive written test, an oral appraisal, and an evaluation of suitability for promotion conducted by command staff officers. They will begin their new duties as supervisors in the Patrol division.

Congratulations to Sgt. Brintle and Sgt. Hoetker!
