Welcome to the Brea Briefing Room! This is the official blog of the Brea Police Department and is intended to provide a transparent look at the structure and operations of the department. Through descriptions, pictures, and maybe even a little video, it is our hope that you will learn about the department’s goals, values, and mission, and how they are implemented by the men and women who work in the various divisions and units of the department. You will read about the deployment, strategies and daily operations of our Patrol personnel. You will get a glimpse of the investigative process as applied by our Detectives. You will learn about the invaluable work done by support personnel in units such as Communications and Records. And, you will read about the equipment we use and the role it plays in the service we provide. From time to time, we will also use this space to provide updates on significant incidents, or make announcements of recruitment efforts.

Although there will be guests once in a while, I will be your host and guide for the Brea Briefing Room. I’m Captain John Burks, a 23-year veteran of the Brea Police Department, and currently the department’s Uniform Division Commander. It is my privilege to work with the 110 other employees of our department who are dedicated to providing the best possible service to the residents, businesses, and visitors of Brea. This blog is a first for our organization and I look forward to sharing our department with you, answering your questions, and exchanging perspectives. All I ask is that you respect the listed commenting guidelines and treat this blog in the manner it is intended, an opportunity to learn more about our department and provide your welcomed input.

Happy Holidays and remember to stay safe when celebrating with your friends and family!

Hello, as a TV News / Media cameraman how can I share photos or videos links to your page? I would have no problem doing that as I covered the Heist in the Brea mall with the Rolex, veh into a structure most resent and etc. Let me know if you would please. Troy Case

Good to hear from you Troy. Since my duties don't get me out in the field as much as I used to, I haven't seen you in a while. If you are asking if you can attach photos or videos to blog comments, the system is not designed to allow that nor would we want that at this time. If you want to use images or videos that I post, then feel free. Thanks for your support over the years!
