Republic Services, the City’s contracted trash hauler, sent notice this morning of a temporary work stoppage at their facility that will impact trash collection on Friday, September 13. Residents with Friday trash pick-up service are advised to keep trash containers at the curb for pick-up on Saturday. Republic Services is attempting to service all trash containers on Friday, however, if your containers are not picked-up, it is their intention to extend their work week into Saturday. If your recycling and/or green waste container are not picked-up by Saturday, residents are advised to bring their containers in at end of day and reset them back out with extra bags of material, if needed, the following Friday.

According to Republic Services, they are in contract negotiations with a union representing some of their employees in Massachusetts. Those employees are engaged in a temporary work stoppage, and some employees at their Anaheim location joined in the work stoppage on Friday, September 13. Republic Services apologizes for any inconvenience and is assuring the City that Friday's work stoppage is not connected with any local issue. Republic Services does not anticipate the work stoppage or delay in trash pick-up service to last more than one day.
