General Plan Annual Report for 2011
The City continued to move forward in the implementation of the overarching goals and policies of the General Plan in 2011. Some of the key achievements include:
1. Downtown Collection obtained building permits and started construction. The project features 30 mixed-use units along South Brea Boulevard and Elm Street and includes 3 affordable units at the moderate income level.
2. Capriana, an assisted living community, is the first Planning Area associated with the La Floresta Development to begin construction. City Council approved this mixed use project in 2010.
3. Construction of the first phase of The Tracks at Brea project was completed specifically the stretch from Arovista Park and along the Brea Canyon Flood Control Channel near Downtown. The City received three grants totaling $914,000 for the acquisition of the final segment of the trail route.
4. Energy Efficiency Project completed with power generated now “on the grid” estimated to save the City $13 million in energy and maintenance costs over its 20+ year lifespan.
In terms of our ongoing housing efforts, the completion and occupancy of the Stone Valley townhomes in 2011 is a solid achievement. The project consists of a total of 22 units, all designated affordable at the moderate income level. This infill project is located along Orange Avenue, near the Downtown.
