Requirements
We emphasize that education is most important. However, regular participation is required. Extended unexcused absences may result in termination.
All Explorers must maintain a GPA of 2.0. Poor grades may result in termination.
Within an Explorer's 1st year with the post, we
require that the Explorer attend and successfully pass the O.C.L.E.E.A.A. Explorer Academy. Failure to pass the Explorer Academy may result in termination.
Explorers will be held accountable to a higher standard than their peers, much as Peace Officers are held to a higher standard then the citizens they serve. Explorers must be in good standing at home, school, and in the community.
What is the Explorer Academy?.png)
The Explorer Academy is a 5-day, live-in, intense academy designed to challenge Explorers physically, mentally, and emotionally to achieve goals greater than that which they thought capable of obtaining.
During the Explorer Academy, Explorers participate in numerous law enforcement related training classes (classroom and hands-on) and physical training.
O.C.L.E.E.A.A. sponsors two annual Explorer Academies, one in February and one in August. The Academies are held at either Camp Pendleton Marine Corps Base or Los Alamitos Joint Forces Training Base.
What is O.C.L.E.E.A.A. ?
O.C.L.E.E.A.A. is the Orange County Law Enforcement Explorer Advisor's Association. The Association is comprised of Law Enforcement Agencies from Orange and Los Angeles County. The Association coordinates Explorer events throughout Orange County and sponsors the Explorer Academies.
How do I get Involved?
Stop by one of our scheduled meetings and check out the program. Parents are welcome to attend. After you attend a minimum of two meetings, you may fill out an application and we will start a background investigation to determine if you are eligible to join.
