Brea's Economic Development is actively involved in many projects and programs to enhance the quality of life for the citizens and businesses of the City of Brea. The department aggressively pursues excellence for the City in the following areas - business retention and attraction programs, housing programs for low to moderate-income families, and property development and revitalization programs.

The complete revitalization of Brea's Downtown is one of the highlights of the department's recent activities. The once-blighted area is now completely rebuilt and features a retail, entertainment, and dining district as well as new housing.
The Economic Development Department worked with the Brea Historical Society on the establishment of the Brea Museum and Heritage Center. Birch Hills Apartments will be the latest addition to Brea's supply of workforce homes. A full array of green features are being built into the units in order to maximize savings for future residents.
Brea’s Economic Development Department recently refreshed its online business-to-business directory to become more interactive for users.
Quality, affordable housing is available in Brea! Since 1981, the City of Brea has assisted in the development of hundreds of affordable housing units in the City, with additional affordable units planned in the coming years.
The Tracks at Brea are becoming reality with construction activities underway. Prior to this, a volunteer community task force worked for many months to gather and analyze information as part of the process.
California requires that all cities in the SCAG region are required to update their Housing Element every five years. Brea’s Housing Element was approved by the State office of Housing and Community Development in August of 2008.
The time is near for construction equipment to start rolling onto The Tracks at Brea Trail. A new phase of the project is ready to begin in summer of 2013.
