The Building and Safety Division is committed to protect the lives and safety of the residents and visitors of Brea, preserve the City's quality of life and contribute to the City's economic development. This is accomplished through the implementation of the Building, Plumbing, Mechanical, Electricial and Energy Codes as we as Code Enforcement regulation of local and state laws for all buildings in the City of Brea.

Street Parking Permits May Apply
There are some restrictions in Brea related to on-street parking during overnight hours and also for sweeping days. Please be aware of the guidelines. Click here for full information.

Residential Solar Installation Guidelines
Solar installations are becoming increasingly popular for residential use. It is important that these be done properly and safely on single family dwellings. Permits help give the homeowner assurance that your contractor is using proper techniques and adequate materials. Please reference the information here when you are preparing building plans for the installation of residential solar panels. Three sets of plans on a minimum sheet size of 18" x 24" need to be prepared for submittals.

Restaurants Need Inspection for Fats, Oils, Grease (FOG)
New restaurants need to submit a FOG application, in addition to applying to the City of Brea for a business license and certificate of occupancy.  As part of the NPDES (National Pollution Discharge Elimination System) local municipalities are responsible to conduct inspections for correct handling of Fats, Oils and Greases.
