City of Brea's Planning Division
The Brea Planning Division is a vital part of the Community Development Department. Planning supports the life and business of the City by assuring that structures and amenities related to the “built” environment are well-functioning and of good quality. A dedicated professional team works with property owners and developers to help craft projects that will meet high standards. They also work to coordinate these projects in their early stages with neighbors so that proposed new construction or modifications to property will be compatible with existing uses.Planners are guided by the City of Brea General Plan, as well as numerous legal guidelines established by State and Federal authorities. Citizen oversight to approve projects is provided by the Planning Commission, a five-member body appointed by the City Council. Public hearings are often conducted as part of the process for large scale projects.
