We all know that recycling is good for the environment, but did you know that recycling can help offset the cost of your monthly refuse rate? The Brea City Council has directed that the credit received from recycling revenue be used to offset a portion of residential refuse rates. Therefore, it pays to recycle! Consumers Must Properly Dispose of Bulky or Hazardous Items
Special arrangements are required for disposal of many bulky items as well as household hazardous wastes. These simply cannot be thrown in with trash going to the landfill. Because certain older appliances may contain lead or dangerous gases, it is just as important to dispose of these properly as it is your old paints and solvents.
Electronic Waste Needs Special Handling
Under new hazardous waste laws, certain electronics related waste may no longer be disposed of in landfills. To avoid violations consumers and businesses should hold aside batteries and various electronic waste for periodic disposal at an appropriate recycling center.
